Equine Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic care is a
holistic approach to many of the health and performance
problems of the horse. Chiropractic does not replace
traditional veterinary medicine and surgery, but provides an
alternative method of care that works to enhance traditional
methods of treatment.
The bones of the spine and
joints are maintained in a specific alignment, allowing the
nerves which surround each joint and vertebral articulation
to be in constant communication with the central nervous
system, brain and organs. When even a subtle change in the
alignment occurs, it is called a subluxation.
Subluxations affect the
nervous system, local muscles, joints and even distant
organs, glands and body functions resulting in dysfunction
of the nervous system. To correct the subluxation a
chiropractic adjustment is used. A chiropractic adjustment
is defined as a short lever, high velocity, controlled
thrust, by hand or instrument, that is directed at specific
articulations to correct vertebral subluxations.
After targeted specific
areas that are not functioning properly, normal nervous
system flow can be restored.
