Diagnostic Nerve Block
 Diagnosing the specific
location of lameness can be quite frustrating for owners.
There are a number of tests used for detecting the source of
lameness. Dr. Winter does a physical exam and lameness
evaluation prior to performing a nerve block. He begins at
the hoof blocking one joint/segment of the limb at a time
until he reaches the shoulder or hip. Between injections,
the horse is re-evaluated until the source of pain is
detected.
