Many
owners are nervous about placing their pets under
anesthesia. However, you can take comfort in knowing that
CVS uses the safest anesthetic drugs possible. We strive to
make the anesthetic procedure as stress-free as possible for
our patients.
For our canine patients Dr. Winter first administers an
injectable anesthetic, which helps them relax. After they
are very relaxed, he then intubates, and connects the
patient to the gas anesthetic. While under anesthesia, the
dog’s vitals, such as heart rate and respiratory rate are
closely being monitored by our trained technicians.
For our feline patients Dr. Winter administers an injectable
anesthesia that takes about 15 minutes to completely take
effect. Once the feline patient is completely asleep we can
begin our procedure. CVS’s feline anesthesia often keeps the
patient asleep most of the day, so they are closely
monitored during the procedure and on regular intervals
during recovery.
